SUMMARY:2018 Alumni Dinner
DESCRIPTION:Distinguished Alumnus \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					J. Timothy Stout\, MD\, PhD\, MBA\n					\n					Dr. Tim Stout is the Chairman of the Ophthalmology Department and Director of the Cullen Eye Institute at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston\, Texas since 2013. Prior to this position\, Dr. Stout served as Professor in the Departments of Ophthalmology and Molecular Genetics\, as well as Vice President for Commercialization Strategies at Oregon Health & Science University. \nAs a practicing vitreoretinal surgeon and director of the Clayton Gene Therapy laboratories at BCM\, Dr. Stout is an expert from both the research and clinical sides of medicine. His research interests include human gene and cell-based therapy for proliferative and inherited ocular disease\, retinal disease genotype-phenotype correlation and ocular disease gene mapping and discovery. \nDr. Stout received his undergraduate degree from Rice University in Houston\, and his medical degree and a doctorate in molecular genetics from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his internship in General Pediatrics at Houston’s Texas Children’s Hospital\, and was a post-doctoral fellow in Human Genetics at BCM. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Doheny Eye Institute\, LAC+USC which was followed by a year as chief resident (extraordinaire). Dr. Stout completed a surgical retina fellowship at Doheny and a medical retina fellowship at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. He earned his MBA at the University of Oregon in 2006. \nAt Doheny\, Dr. Stout is best known for his commitment to excellence\, his passion in training the next generation of ophthalmologists\, promoting the spirit of camaraderie and his great sense of humor.
