Doheny Distinguished Alumni
Each year, the Doheny Professional Association Board of Directors selects an outstanding alumnus or alumna who has distinguished themselves significantly within their professional community.
Nominees for the award must hold alumni status through volunteer faculty tenure or as a resident/fellow for a minimum of 10 years. They should have excelled in various areas such as advancing Doheny Eye Institute’s welfare, contributing to teaching the next generation of leaders in ophthalmology, promoting ophthalmology’s welfare, demonstrating social responsibility, and showcasing reputation in research, teaching, and clinical work. Additionally, peer respect, international recognition, humanitarian achievements, and political advocacy are considered.
