Our Hearts Are With Our Community
We at Doheny Eye Institute are deeply heartbroken by the tragedy that unfolded in our community this month, and our thoughts are with each and every one of our friends and neighbors who have been impacted.
Four years ago, we relocated to our campus in the vibrant city of Pasadena, and many of our Doheny scientists, ophthalmologists, and staff also call the Pasadena and Altadena communities home. We are immensely grateful to share that our Doheny employees and their families are safe. We can also report that our campus is fully operational, and all Doheny Eye Center UCLA locations are open.
We know that the recent fires have upended the lives of so many of our friends across Los Angeles, from Pasadena and Altadena to the Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and beyond. Please reach out to us and let us know if you are ok; we will also be reaching out to check in with you.
Furthermore, your health and safety is of the utmost importance. We urge you to follow the guidance of authorities on masking outside while our air is unhealthy, adhering to warnings about water contamination in local communities, and please also remember that the smoke and particles in the air can impact your eye health. We suggest that you keep your eyes lubricated as they may dry out from the debris and smoke in the air, and if you are heading into areas that were directly impacted by the fires, consider wearing goggles or protective eye gear. Inside, use a HEPA air filter to purify your indoor air and help keep wildfire smoke out of your home.
You are all in our thoughts.
