Sun Lab

The research expertise of Dr. Sun’s laboratory is the study of the pathogenesis of immunology-inflammation-related ocular diseases. Currently, his research focuses on investigating the pathogenic mechanism of inflammation and the regulatory role of a specific T cell subset – T cells – on IL-17+ autoreactive T cells, which is a new type of disease-causing cells and information concerning this particular cell are lacking. Exploiting the long-term experience of working with disease pathogenesis and immunoregulation in autoimmune diseases, our study should contribute to clarify mechanisms by which autoreactive T cells become pathogenic and possible ways that may better able to control the disease progression.
