Deborah A. Ferrington, PhD, is Doheny Eye Institute’s Chief Scientific Officer and Professor of Ophthalmology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She is also the holder of the Stephen J. Ryan-Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation Endowed Presidential Chair. Dr. Ferrington is recognized internationally for her ground-breaking research on age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the leading cause of blindness among the elderly. Prior to Doheny, Dr. Ferrington was a Professor and Director of Research in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Neurosciences at the University of Minnesota.
